Personal Care

Whether its help with your whole morning routine or just someone to give you that confidence with your personal care, we are here to help. Personal care is any tasks related to personal hygiene and maintaining personal appearance. Our carers are able to support you with getting out of bed, washing, dressing, toileting, applying creams or gels and anything else related to personal care.

Medication

Our staff are specially trained in medication administration and can either just give you a gentle reminder of when to take your medication or they can administer it to you if you cannot take it on your own. We also keep a record of when you take your medication so you both you and our team know what you’ve taken and when making a safer environment at home.

Meal Preparation

Our carers are all trained in food hygiene and can help you with your meals. We know that not everyone is able to make their own meals and we can help you prepare your meals and we can also support and assist you when it comes to eating too. Our staff can also help those who have swallowing difficulties and have had specialised training with PEG’s.

Shopping

We know that not everyone can get to the shops and not everyone is lucky to have someone to rely on that can do their food shopping for them, that is where we come in. Our carers can go out shopping for you or help you access the community to do your own shopping, the only restriction is that it is local to you!

Light Housework

In all of our calls carers will do some form of light house work. Examples of these are putting laundry on a wash or out to dry, washing up, a quick hoover, wiping down the sides, emptying bins, cleaning bathrooms, anything that is light house work and you cannot do yourself, our carers have you covered!

Companionship

Sometimes people just want someone to talk to or to check up on them. Our carers can do ‘security calls’ to check that you are OK during the day or evening. Our carers can also do companionship calls where we can join you for an hour or two and have a chat or do something together.

Tailored to you.

Before we start caring for you, we will make a bespoke care plan suited just to your needs. We believe in person-centred care and we will keep you involved with this process so you have full control of your care. We will arrange to do an assessment with you and anyone else you want involved in your care plan to make sure you are satisfied with how your care will be carried out.

FAQ’s about care

Where do I start?

First of all you need to think about what you want from a carer. Is it something that just requires one carer in the morning for half an hour or do you need full support throughout the day? Then give us a call and we can tell you what we have available and if you like the sound of it then we can start making your care plan and organise a start date for you.

How will I pay for it?

All service users that pay privately and are not funded by the council can pay via cheque, online banking or cash. However, not everyone can afford care and that’s why Shropshire Council’s Adult Social Care can help fund your care. Contact them on 0345 678 9044 and ask for a financial assessment and they will be able to tell you if they can help.

How quick can you start?

Depending on our availability, we could start the same day if you are in need of urgent care. It really depends on our availability and how quickly we can do your assessment.

Will I get the same time every day?

We try to keep your care call times to a similar, if not the same time everyday. If there is variation it’s normally 15-30 minutes difference. When care calls are time critical due to medication or conditions such as diabetes we will be more strict with visit’s start times.

Will I get the same people?

We try our best to keep the same carers in so you have people you know. The only time you will meet someone new is if we have a new staff member on induction, to cover sickness or cover staff holidays.

What if I don’t like my carer?

We know that there will be times when personalities clash, it’s human nature. If you are unhappy with your carer you can ring the office and we can introduce another carer to you.

What if I want to make any changes to my care tasks or care call times?

If you want anything changing, you can always ring us between 9am and 4pm Monday - Friday on 01948 411222. We ask that you only ring that number out of hours in emergency circumstances (e.g. hospital admissions, falls, etc.).
